At BOD Counselling, I understand that every client is different. That’s why I offer face-to-face sessions, online counselling, telephone counselling, or a blended approach—so that the support you receive truly fits your needs, lifestyle, and comfort levels.

Online counselling has become increasingly popular, offering flexibility, accessibility, and a sense of safety for many people. However, like all therapeutic approaches, it has both strengths and limitations. Below is an overview to help you decide what might work best for you.

Benefits of Online Counselling

1. Convenience and Accessibility

Online counselling removes many of the barriers that can make attending therapy challenging. Whether you're balancing work, childcare, health issues, or travel difficulties, online sessions offer a flexible way to access support without the need to travel.

2. Comfort in Your Own Space

Many clients feel more relaxed when talking from their own home or a private place where they feel safe. Feeling at ease can help make difficult conversations feel slightly more manageable.

3. Continuity of Support

Online therapy makes it easier to maintain regular sessions during holidays, work trips, or unexpected life disruptions. This helps keep your therapeutic progress steady and consistent.

4. More Choice and Flexibility

Offering online sessions means you have more control over how therapy works for you. Some clients prefer to mix formats—for example, attending online during busy periods and face-to-face when exploring deeper work.

Limitations of Online Counselling

1. Suitability Varies From Person to Person

While online counselling is valuable and effective for many, some people simply feel more connected or grounded in a face-to-face setting. Certain therapeutic approaches—such as creative interventions, experiential techniques, or timeline work—tend to work best in person, as they benefit from shared physical space and access to materials. At BOD Counselling, we will explore your needs together and choose the format that supports you best.

2. Technology Challenges

Online counselling relies on a stable internet connection and a private, quiet space. Technical issues or household interruptions can sometimes disrupt the flow of a session and affect focus.

3. Reduced Non-Verbal Cues

While video sessions still allow for eye contact and facial expression, it can be harder to pick up on more subtle body language compared to being in the same room. This doesn’t prevent meaningful work, but it’s something both client and therapist need to be mindful of.

Finding What Works for You

At BOD Counselling, my priority is to create a safe, supportive, and accessible environment where you can explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace. Whether you choose face-to-face, online, telephone, or a blended approach, we will work collaboratively to ensure therapy feels right for you.

If you're unsure which format suits you best, we can discuss the options together and shape your sessions in whatever way supports your wellbeing.
